Otto Octavius is a brilliant fusion researcher who built four sentient, chip-controlled mechanical arms to interface directly with his own experimental reactor. When the inhibitor chip meant to keep the arms from overriding his mind was destroyed, they seized control of him instead, and he turned to crime trying to finish the project that had already killed him once. Pulled from his universe at the instant of that death by a spell gone wrong, he is captured, freed from the arms' influence, and helps build the cure that reaches the others before returning home.
